The Institute for Governance Reforms (IGR) has launched the first Local Governance and Services Tracker (LGST) to promote constructive engagements between citizens, the Central Government, and Local Councils.

The launch at the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs on the 4^th of March 2024 saw the Project Lead, Professor Fredline M’Cormack-Hale explaining how the tracker will be working in 6 pilot districts of Western Rural, Moyamba, Karene, Falaba, Tonkolili, and Kono.

The 8th accused in the on-going treason trial has denied being part of the November 26, 2023 attempt to overthrow the government of President Bio. Bai Mahmoud Bangura said this in his statement to the police read in the High Court on Wednesday 6^thMarch, 2024 by the ninth prosecution witness, Abubakarr Kargbo.

A National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the National Grand Coalition ,(NGC) party, held at the party’s headquarter at Naimbana Street in Freetown on the 8^th March, 2024 ended in chaos as police had to disperse some opposing members.

A press release issued by the Sierra Leone Police noted that it received a letter from the NGC alluding to hold their quarterly NEC meeting at their party headquarters to “decide on very crucial issue that may lead to divided opinions and tension among the party members.”

Prosecutors have told the High Court that the telephone call log of the third accused in the on-going treason trial proves that he was in communication with alleged perpetrators of the November 26th 2023 attempted coup on the day of the incident.

Emmanuel Salifu Kamara was, until his arrest, one of the security guards (police) to former president, Ernest Bai Koroma at his home in Makeni.

Forum for Rural and Urban Transformation (FoRUT) has supported thirty-five youths, mostly women, with startup kits after they completed training in various skills, in a bid to make them self-employed and self-reliant.

In her statement during presentation of the kits, 7^th March 2024, the Executive Director of FoRUT Boi Jeneh Jalloh said it was important that they gave the trainees startup kits to get them up and running.

As they gathered every March to celebrate Social Work Month, the group Social Workers Sierra Leone (SWSL) has called on the government through the Ministry of Social Welfare to see the need to transform social work into a Statutory Act in Parliament that can give the professionals the respect and honor to practice in a more dignified manner.

One of the Partners of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, through the  STOP Spillover Project has ended a three-day simulation exercise on the transmission of Zoonotic diseases  that comes from animals to human.

The exercise was conducted in two communities in Guala and Dodo townships in Dodo Chiefdom from the 6th to 8th March 2024.

The engagement captured participants such as town chiefs, Community Health Workers, women’s leaders, youth, Community Health Aids, bike riders among others.
