Sierra Leone improves Internet connectivity - Chief Minister

The Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh has said that the government of President Julius Maada Bio has expanded internet connectivity to over ninety percent of the population, from seventy percent six years ago.

Sengeh was speaking as a keynote speaker on the topic “Leadership and Governance” at the fifth World Government Services hosted in Dubia on 12th January 2024.

Amadu Koita Makalo, retired RSLAF soldier has been named as the “master planner and commander” of the assailants, who undertook a failed coup in Sierra Leone on Sunday November 26th 2023. 

Sergeant Michael Sankoh, an investigator attached to the Military Police, revealed this on Friday 9thFebruary, 2024, while reading the voluntary caution statement of the first accused in the ongoing court martial, Staff Sergeant Alhaji Koroma.

Member of Parliament from Moyamba District Veronica  Kadie Sesay has been elected President of the Economic Community of West African States Female Parliamentary Association (ECOFEPA) to serve the bureau in the bloc’s 6th legislature. 

Members of the new executive were presented at the ECOFEPA regional summit held in Freetown, Sierra Leone where their First Vice President handed over the baton to them on the 9th February 2024. 

Terms of reference set for Sierra Leone’s Electoral Review

Briefing the media on the progress made so far by the Electoral Systems and Management Body Review (ESMBR), the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, confirmed that the government, and the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) Party have signed the terms of reference for the committee to guide them throughout the review process spanning from 2007, 2012, 2018 and the June 2023 elections.
