ActionAid launches fourth country strategy doc

ActionAid, Sierra Leone has launched its fourth country strategy document to guide their operations from 2024 to 2028.

 Keynote Speaker at the launch in Freetown on Wednesday 7th February, Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh Ph.D stated that the three key areas highlighted in the strategy document are aligned with their government's values and principles of inclusivity, resilience, and sustainable development and hoped that the new strategy succeeds.

Finnish court frees former Sierra Leone rebel commander

A Finnish Court of Appeal has acquitted and discharged a Sierra Leonean named Gibril Massaquoi of all four counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Liberia.

The ruling made on 31st January 2024, has brought to a close, a long running case that first began in March 2020 when Massaquoi, now a resident of Finland, was charged of the crimes by a Finnish District Court.

Sierra Leone to export fish to Europe and China

EDSA clamps down on Diamond Lodge hotel in Kono

As part of ongoing raids, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) over the weekend stormed the Diamond Lodge Hotel in Koidu where they disconnected power supply from the facility for what they said was an illegal abstraction of electricity among other offences.

Appeals Court to rule on OCTEA case

The Sierra Leone Court of Appeal led by Justice Reginald Fynn is to on Thursday deliver a ruling regarding a case brought against Octea a diamond mining company based in Kono District, by Marginalized Affected Property Owners (MAPO) and others.

Justice Fynn said the court would issue the ruling after hearing arguments put forward by Lawyers Drucil E Taylor, and Chernor M.B. Jalloh as lead counsel for the defendants and appellants, respectively.

UN engages stakeholders on 2025-2030 programmes
