The decision by Liberia’s Lower House of Parliament to endorse a bill propagating the setting up of a War Crimes Court to try alleged perpetrators of extreme violence during the country’s Civil War has sparked intense debate in the West African country.

Apart from their insistence that there should be no increment in the toll gate fee,  over hundred and seventy Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have demanded that one of the three toll gates is removed together with the barricades created along roads that could have been alternative routes.

A group of campaigners in Sierra Leone has issued a solidarity statement regarding the ongoing situation in Palestine, stating that they stand with the people there in the face of assaults by Israel. 

The statement was issued by the  group on the 14^th March 2024. 

The campaigners in their statement explained that despite Sierra Leone being far away from Palestine, they are concerned about what they described as the ongoing genocide which they note speaks to Sierra Leone’s story and that they cannot look away.

University of the Makeni UniMak on Saturday 16 March held its 2024 convocation ceremony after a High Court struck out an injunction that could otherwise have prevented the ceremony from taking place.

Application for an injunction was brought against the university by 13 aggrieved students of the institution whose names were not shortlisted for the said convocation ceremony because they sat reference modules.

 The mayor of the Bo City council has told Politico in an interview that the general cleaning exercise done on the last Saturday of every month will be maintained in Bo City.

 Mayor Kobba Musa said when he came to power less than a year ago, he re-introduced the cleaning exercise which he described as challenging, given the money required to keep Bo City clean. He said he was prepared to face the challenges head-on along with his staff.

Child Fund with support from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has handed over a site for the construction of two three classroom blocks, VIP Latrines, boreholes and furniture for Fourah Bay College Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Services Secondary School at Juba. 

The Project Manager in charge of KOICA Project, Jeremy Sawyer handed over the site to the contractors on the 15^th March 2024.
