Reports of the discovery of the dead bodies of young men at Hagan Street in Freetown and a video making rounds on social media of youths acting like zombies as their heads were being forcibly shaved, have sparked up intense discussions in Parliament with MPs speaking passionately on the issue and suggesting they invite stakeholders, amidst calls for the adoption of certain measures.

The MPs said the widespread use of the psychoactive drug Kush should be pronounced a public health emergency.

A Jury in the High Court has cleared one Ntuma Mansaray (Nee Bangura) of killing her soldier-husband, Mamoud Mansaray in Freetown.

The 10-member jury returned a verdict of not guilty because the accused acted in self-defence but two of the jurors maintained their dissenting position even after the jury was initially sent out a second time because four had disagreed with the not guilty verdict. Justice Sulaiman Bah had to redirect the jury before they arrived at the two-thirds decision.

The Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Commission on Arms and Ammunition, (SLeCAA), Binneh K. Conteh says Sierra Leone is the “only” country that has submitted its annual report to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) Secretariat for 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Conteh made this statement at the launch of the Sierra Leone Commission on Arms and Ammunition Act No. 24 of 2023 at its Freetown Office on 7^th March.

The Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Officer of Kenema City Council, Martin Kaindaneh has said that before the end of March, Council will introduce an electronic system for the payment of Taxes and Property rates.

He told Politico on the 11 March 2024 that the electronic system would upgrade and reform property tax collection.

“The electronic system will wipe out corruption on revenue collection of the council,’’ he said.
