Samura Kamara urges transparency in electoral review

Former All Peoples Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara has called for transparency in the review of the electoral process.

He made the statement whilst addressing a gathering at State House to witness the Launch by President Julius Maada Bio of the Cross-Party Committee on the Review of Sierra Leone’s Electoral Systems and Electoral Management Bodies on Tuesday 21st November.

Child Fund supports Sengbe Pieh School

Child Fund Sierra Leone with funding from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Child Fund Korea has constructed a three-classroom building at the Sengbe Pieh Memorial School at Mambo Goderich.

Child Fund Sierra Leone’s Country Director Victor Kamara at the handing over ceremony on the 23rd November 2023 said they undertook the project in response to the government’s call to decongest schools for children to learn in a conducive environment.

Opposition MP condemns reimposition of tax on rice in Sierra Leone

Member of Parliament from Bombali District, Salieu Osman Sesay, has condemned the restoration of tax on rice and called on President Julius Maada Bio to ensure that the aspect in the Finance Act that speaks on 5% tax on rice be removed.  

Sesay during his debate on the bill entitled the Appropriation Act 2024 yesterday said “Mr. President if you have not signed the Finance Act, please listen to your people and remove or expunge that particular tax for now”.

Sierra Leone Parliament to withhold MDAs’ budget

Following the absence of most of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies during the first allotted day for the debate of the bill entitled the Appropriation Act 2024, the Speaker of Parliament Chernor Abass Bundu said that he will ensure that the budget for MDAs that are absent for the remaining four allotted days for the debate be withheld.
