Lunsar police chief blames boss for riot

The former Local Unit Commander of Lunsar is fighting to save his nearly three decades of career in the Sierra Leone Police after his recall pending investigation for alleged misconduct.

Chief Superintendent Gibril Mohammad Turay aka GMT is being investigated for his handling of the April 30 riots in the northern Port Loko district, Politico has learnt.

Turay is said to be under investigation by the CDIID, the police department that looks into suspected misconduct of police officers.

Pujehun: Land dispute leaves one dead, six injured

One person has been killed and six more injured in a land dispute between Sawulia and Longo villages in the Southern district of Pujehun, Police in the district have confirmed to Politico.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon after youths in Sawulia were returning home from clearing the bush on a bridge that connects both villages.

Sierra Leone medical school produces locally made sanitizer

The College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) has launched a locally made hand sanitizer as part of efforts to stop the transmission of Covid-19.

Authorities say that the initiative was part of their commitment in the fight against the Pandemic.

The product was developed by a cross section of final year students at the Pharmacology Department of the college, through the supervision of the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone opposition rejects allegation of terrorism

The main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) has in a press statement rejected the “terrorism” label used by President Julius Maada Bio to describe the activities of some of its members.

In a strongly worded statement that was released by the party last Sunday, it expressed dissatisfaction over the president’s statement, insisting that the party is law abiding.
