Labour Congress celebrates Wages and Salary Commission

The Secretary- General of the Sierra Leone Labour Congress has expressed the group’s satisfaction with the establishment of the Wages and Salary Commission as enshrined in the Wages and Compensation Commission Act of 2023.  

The commission is mandated to determine wages and compensation for public sector employees, harmonise the public sector pay system that reflects equity and merit and improve other related matters.

State wants attendance register of senior officials before Audit Tribunal

The lead State Prosecutor, Ahmed J. Bockarie in an ongoing tribunal set up to investigate the suspended Auditor -General and her deputy, Lara Taylor-Pearce and Tamba Momoh over their alleged misconduct, has applied that Audit Service submit the attendance register of top management.

Bockarie made the oral application on Tuesday 21st November 2023, that the institution should submit the register spanning from 2015 to 2021.

Price control: Call to Repeal Exclusive Right

In a bid to address price control, the Deputy Secretary- General of the Sierra Leone Importers Association, Alhaji Sheriff Barrie has called on the Government to repeal the 1969 Exclusive Act that gives the right of sole importing of essential commodities to importers.

Barrie was speaking at the government weekly press briefing at the Foreign Affairs Ministry,Tower Hill in Freetown on 21st November 2023.
