The Government of Sierra Leone has buckled under the demand of lecturers at Njala University and removed from office the two Acting Deputy Vice Chancellors at the institutions’ two campuses.
The men who head the Bo and Mokonde campuses were released after a weeklong strike by the Njala Academic Staff Association (ASA) which ended yesterday.

The government of Sierra Leone has assured the management and students of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology that it would pay tuition fees for all government sponsored students.
The Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Professor Aiah Gbakima, said the government had reached an agreement with the management of the university to allow students to register and to continue their courses.
Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has commissioned the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) Logistics depot in Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom.
The facility, which is being constructed under a project that will cost an estimated $8 million, is meant to support ECOWAS peace keeping operations, efficiently combat violent activism and tackle terrorist activities in the West Africa sub region.

The Independent Media Commission (IMC) has launched the 9th edition of its annual National Media Awards for media practitioners. IMC said the award is organized to celebrate dedication and professionalism within the journalism profession.
They also said the event is meant to promote healthy competition among media institutions and individual practitioners.
April 18th has been announced as the date for this year’s awards ceremony.

The police in Bo District are investigating the death of a 15-year old boy who succumbed to stab wounds sustained during gambling.
Charles Lebbie was stabbed to death last Saturday while gambling with his colleagues in the compound of St Andrew’s Secondary School in Bo City, Police said.
Mohamed Bobson Senu, southern region spokesman for the Sierra Leone Police, confirmed the news to Politico, noting that two people had already been arrested in connection with the incident.
