As Sam Sumana’s resignation is confirmed C4C leaders unmoved

The executive and members of the Coalition for Change Party (C4C) have assured Sierra Leoneans that the resignation of the founder and leader of the party, Samuel Sam Sumana, will not affect the functionality of the party.

In a press conference at the party’s office on Tuesday, its officials confirmed the resignation of Mr Sam-Sumana from the party, ending months of speculation surrounding the political future of the former Vice President.

Law School: Investigators recommend sweeping reforms

The Council of Legal Education Sierra Leone has recommended some sweeping reforms for the Sierra Leone Law School, as part of efforts to fix a recurring problem of mass failures which has characterized the only law school in the country.

The Sierra Leone Law School has over the last few years been shrouded in controversies occasioned by the high number of failures it records in its final exams. The situation has raised questions about the quality of learning and the caliber of students who enrolled into the course.

Fire accident leaves 18 homeless in Bo

A fire accident in Bo last Saturday has left 18 people homeless. Residents at Clerks Quarters in Bo, where the incident took place, believe that it was an electrical fire and they blamed the fluctuating power supply of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).

Mohamed Lamin Cham, who resides at the house that was destroyed, said he was travelling to his village with his mother when neighbors called to inform him that their house was on fire.

Varsity students protest over unpaid fees

Students of the Limkokwing College of Science and Technology staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday at the Ministry of Tertiary and Higher Education at New England Ville.

The students who matched from their campus at Hill Station to New England Ville were protesting over their tuition grants that haven’t been paid by the government to the university for the current academic year.

Vice Principal, teacher suspended for holding extra classes

The Vice Principal and a teacher at the Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) have both been suspended for charging pupils for extra classes. The decision to suspend the two was reached last month in a joint meeting by the school administration, the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) and officials of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).
