FBC lecturer wounding case adjourned again

The prosecution in an ongoing preliminary investigation into a case of wounding and assault implicating a Dr. Salmata Ibrahim of Fourah Bay College has indicated that they will apply for a subpoena to order their witnesses to testify in court.  

Defence lawyers then applied for the court to conclude that the case for the prosecution is closed if they fail to bring their witnesses against the next adjourned date, 6th February 2023.

Family of slain woman in Kabala calls for justice

Foundation awards 24 for academic excellence

The Mamie Mariama Justice Ganawah Education Foundation (MaMJGEF) has through their 2024 National Education Champions Awards, recognized 24 individuals and institutions for their support towards education.

This happened at a dinner and awards night that took place at Hotel Cabenda, Freetown on Saturday 27th January 2024.

Educationists Professor Joe A.D. Alie and Samuel Jamiru Braima received lifetime achievement awards for their immense contribution to the area of education.

Sierra Leone progresses in Global Corruption ranking

For the 5th consecutive year in five years, Sierra Leone has, again, progressed upwards in Transparency International’s Global Corruption Country Rankings, moving from 110 in 2022 to 108 out of 180 countries surveyed in the 2023 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index (TI-CPI) published on 30th January 2024. 

ACC wants stakeholders’ input on Corruption strategy

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested for Local Councils, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that function within various Councils, for their inputs and suggestions for inclusion into the 2024-2028 Anti-Corruption strategic document.

The Commission had convened a meeting in Kenema on the 26th January, 2024 with some stakeholders in attendance.

Pujehun students applaud scholarship offer

Josephine Rogers just like the others is a first-year student. The 20-year-old who is studying for a degree in Nursing at Njala University said she was extremely happy when she was selected by a Committee after an interview and scrutiny of her academic performance before entering university.
