The father of a 13year-old girl who was allegedly raped has complained about the delay by the Sierra Leone Police to prosecute the case.

The concerned parent told Politico that the police had demonstrated “negligence” in handling his daughter’s case since the incident occurred almost two months ago. He expressed frustration after repeatedly checking up with the police on the progress of the case.

Sierra Leone;s new Labour Minister appeals for cooperation

The new Minister of Labour and Social Security, Alpha Osman Timbo, has called on staff of the ministry to cooperate with him as he assumed office. Mr Timbo told a handing over session on Monday that he would need the support of every member of staff of the ministry to attain “positive change” in the operations of the ministry.

“I am open to work with whosoever is ready to work with me,” he stated at the occasion held in the conference hall of the Ministry.

COI: Defence questions competency of property valuator

One of the Defense Counsels for Persons of Interest at the Commission of Inquiry, Ady Macauley, used his cross examination on Monday to question the competence of the property valuator hired by the State, Olu Campbell.

Campbell did the valuation on the property of Macauley’s clients.

In his line of questioning, Macauley sought to establish whether Campbell had any academic documentation for the job he is doing.

Sierra Leone Information Commission ends national retreat
