Giving updates about the ongoing treason trial following last November’s failed coup, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohamed Tarawalley has said the process is not a vendetta.
Tarawalley was speaking at a press conference by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education on 19th January this year at the Ministry of Justice, Freetown.
He said the accused were not arraigned based on personal vendetta, but on the evidences that they have against them.

The first- ever consignment of electric-powered rickshaws known locally as Keke, which arrived in the country recently, will soon start running after they were launched past Saturday by Neev Sierra Leone- the company managing them. According to Neev officials, the coming of the chargeable kekes is expected to see a reduction in fares for passengers since they do not run on petrol.

A Policy Brief by the Sierra Leone Land Alliance has called on the Government of Sierra Leone to undertake a comprehensive audit and retrospect to address historical injustice that has over the years clouded land rights.
The brief titled “Righting the wrong : historical injustices and Land reforms in Sierra Leone“ highlighted the need for a forensic audit into the resettlement programmes that have already been implemented since independence to establish the extent to which they benefited the landless.

A few hours after we published a story about a new garbage dump on the road leading to Fourah Bay College, the authorities at the college have moved to clean up what was becoming an embarrassing development for the college community and their neighbors.
Politico witnessed the cleaning exercise on Saturday morning to see college staff using their vehicles to transport mounds of rubbish that the Freetown City Council has ignored despite complaints from people living in the area.

In a move to support the operations of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone has officially handed over two G.X.R Land Cruiser Sport Utility Vehicles to the NRA.
The handing-over ceremony was held at the UNDP Country Office in Freetown last Friday 19 January 2024, that saw the UN agency’s country representative, Fredrick Hans Ampiah, hand over the vehicles to the board chairperson of NRA, Tuma Adama Gento Kamara.

Sierra Leone’s former President, Ernest Bai Koroma, the subject of an ongoing Preliminary Investigation (PI) over alleged treason, misprison of treason and two counts of harbouring, has been granted bail for him to get medical care out of the country.
The Presiding Magistrate, Santigie Bangura granted bail at the Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown on Wednesday 17th January 2024, after a medical report of the former president was presented by lead Defence Lawyer, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara.

Justice Komba Kamanda has refused bail application on medical grounds for Bai Mahmoud Bangura, the 8th accused in the ongoing treason offence case at the High Court No.1 in Freetown.
The Judge in his ruling after hearing both lead Defence and State Prosecution lawyers, Africanus Sorie Sesay for the 8th accused and Ahmed J.M. Bockarie respectively about the bail, the request was refused on grounds of the seriousness of the offence.
