Windfall for Pujehun health hospital

The Pujehun District Descendants Association, America Branch, through the District Council, has donated assorted drugs to the maternity hospital in Pujehun.

Presenting the donations to the Pujehun district health management team, the chairman of the district council Sadiq Silla said the gifts was as a result of the hard work of the health workers in the entire district, especially as demonstrated throughout the fight against the Ebola epidemic.

Ahead of Congress, SLAJ pledges support to national development

As the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) prepares for its annual general meeting, its Secretary-Genaral Moses Kargbo has reiterated the media`s role in national development, a point he said will be at the heart of the next two days` gathering in Kenema in the east of the country.

The meeting proper commences on Friday but journalists from other parts of the country, including Freetown, will begin traveling to the venue today.

Le735m to councilors, but the people don’t know

The Freetown City Council (FCC) has allocated the sum of Le 735, 000 to all councilors of the Freetown municipality for development projects in their different wards but there are concerns as to how these funds are being utilized. The municipality has 49 wards in total, and Le15, 000000 has been disbursed to each councilor.

According to an anonymous source, the disbursal was done more than a month ago, almost two months now, and the media was not invited, prompting concerns over the motive.

Sierra Leonean appointed FAO's East Africa coordinator

Sierra Leonean Patrick Momoh-Nuwah Kormawa has been appointed Subregional Coordinator for Eastern Africa (SFE) for the UN`s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). He will also represent the Organization at the African Union (AU) and to the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

Mr Kormawa`s appointment takes effect from 2 May 2015, a dispatch signed by its Director-General José Graziano da Silva and forwarded to Politico newspaper from the FAO country office, notes.

P’ment orders Kenema City council to redo budget

The parliamentary oversight committee on Finance on Tuesday ordered officials of the Kenema City Council (KCC) to redo their budget proposal submitted to the committee over ‘inconsistencies.’

Hassan Sheriff, APC MP, chairman of the committee, said they`d summoned the KCC on the instruction of the Speaker of parliament and the Majority Leader.
