UN to take over Ebola payment in Sierra Leone
The United Nations is to take over the payment of frontline health workers dealing with Ebola in all three countries hardest hit by the virus as a means “to strengthen the battle against Ebola”.
15 jailed for public meeting in Sierra Leone

Magistrate Binneh Kamara of Ross Road Court No. 1 has sent 15 persons to prison accused of participating in a public meeting.
Information contained on the charge sheet alleges that the accused “on Saturday 29 November, 2014 at Wellington participated in a public meeting not related to Ebola sensitization, contrary to Regulation 15 of the Public Emergency Regulation 2014.”
The nine men and six women pleaded guilty to the charge.
Gov’t urged to be transparent on extractives

At their ninth annual general meeting in Freetown on last week the newly-elected chairperson of National Advocacy Coalition on Extractives (NACE), has urged government to be transparent and accountable in its governance of the country’s natural and mineral resources.
Sierra Leone army steps up Ebola fight
The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has established a new Ebola Treatment Centre at the facilities of the 34 Military Hospital in Freetown, according to a press release issued yesterday.
The new treatment centre was officially opened on Monday 2 December with the first batch of eight suspected and confirmed cases transferred from the Holding Centre of the military facility in western Freetown.
World Bank to reaffirm commitment
World Bank Group President, Jim Yong Kim, will be in Freetown on Wednesday 3 December, 2014 to reaffirm the Bank’s continued support to the government’s response to the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone.
According to a press release from the Bank, Dr. Kim would join President Ernest Bai Koroma and senior officials of the government for a press conference at State House on the same day.
