Leone Stars Team B receives $ 10,000 from Umar Bah

Team Manager of Home based Leone Stars, Alhaji Umar Bah on Monday 1st August 2022 formally handed over $10,000 to the players to honour the pledge he made to the boys for eliminating Cape Verde in the CHAN qualifiers played in Morocco last month.

Team Captain Abu Bakarr Samura and Coach Zappa received the cash equivalent of One hundred and Thirty-Five Thousand Leones (New Leone Currency) on behalf of the team. The cash presentation was done in the Freetown office of Bah who is also CEO of Sierramin Bauxite Company.

Victorious Leone Stars Team B to meet Mali

Leone Stars Team B comprising home based players will meet Mali in home and away matches in the next seven weeks, for a place in the CHAN tournament in Algeria next January.

Leone Stars B defeated Cape Verde in their home tie 2-0 played in Morocco last week but lost the away leg played also played in Morocco 1-2 but qualified for the final knockout 3-2 on aggregate.

Striker Alie Conteh got the brace in the first leg whilst Prince Barrie netted the opener in the away game, which proved invaluable in the end.

KDFA urges SLFA to investigate ‘shamed’ Gulf vs Koaquima match

Kono District Football Association (KDFA) has in a statement urged the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and other football stakeholders to investigate the Gulf Fc versus Koaquima Lebanon FC match that ended in a whopping 92 goals score line in Kono on 3rd July, 2022.

The match was one of the super ten (10) matches for entry into the premier league promotion playoff.

Sierra Leone main stadium rehabilitation in progress

The rehabilitation  of the national stadium that started in April this year is progressing well as captured during a conducted tour of the complex by the Minister of Sports, Engineers and Journalists.

During the tour, the minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh explained that since the stadium has been closed to the public for some time now, there have been concerns by the public as to the progress being made so far in the rehabilitation process.

Home-based Leone stars TM optimistic at CHAN

The home based Leone Stars team last evening flew out for their two-legged tie against Cape Verde in Morocco as they attempt to book a place in TotalEnergies  CHAN tournament to be hosted by Algeria in January 2023.

The first leg will be played on Sunday 24th July, with the second match a week later. The overall winners will then play Mali for a place in the tournament organised by CAF for African players plying their trade in the continent.

Bo Rangers concerned over social media posts about Musa Tombo

Bo Rangers Football Club has expressed concern over some social media posts alleging among other things that star player Musa Noah Kamara ‘Tombo’ has caught the attention of a South African Football Club. This was made known to the public in a press statement issued by the club on Friday 15th July, 2022.
