New Venue for Sierra Leone - Benin Clash

The Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland has on the 10th June 2021 refused the appeal made by both Sierra Leone and Benin Football Associations. The postponed AfCON crucial match between the national teams of Sierra Leone and Benin will now take place in Conakry, Guinea on Monday 14 June 2021.

When news broke on social media that Isha Johansen is stepping down as the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, more than half of us were in absolute denial. In those early moments the decision didn’t make any sense, mostly because of how much machinations have gone on behind the scene to give her and her favored candidates an edge in this election.

Bo Rangers edge past bitter rivals Eagles

Bo Rangers kept up the momentum following the opening of their clubhouse on Friday by beating south-east regional rivals Kamboi Eagles 1-O in Bo.

The goal came in the second half after star striker Musa Tombo was brought down in the box. He converted the goal by volleying into the left corner of the net.

The match was held up for about 5 minutes in the second half after Kamboi Eagles fans pelted missiles at one of the referee assistants over what they say was the referee's failure to grant then a penalty.

High Flying Bo Rangers brought down by Wusum Stars

Celebrations went into late Sunday evening in Makeni after host team Wusum Stars beat highly fancied Bo Rangers 1-0 in the Sierra Leone football Premier  league.

Wusum scored midway in the first half from a goalkeeping blunder. The Bo Rangers goalie had all the time to clear a back pass but held on to the ball until he was dispossessed and the ball easily slotted home. It was a howler that shocked the highly confident travelling fans.

FC Kallon beat SLIFA to go top of Premier League

In the match against SLIFA, Saidu Fofanah's second half goal was enough to give FC Kallon the victory to top the Sierra Leone Premier League table once again.

The Cavaliers dominated  the second half as SLIFA went three games winless (L2, D1).

FC Kallon were struggling to make a breakthrough until Ibrahim Mansaray picked Fofanah out who headed the ball over SLIFA's goalie to secure league table authority.

This is the Cavaliers' second win after beating Ports Authority 3-1 in the league opener followed by two draws against Old Edwardians and Wusum Stars.

BIG BLOW FOR EAST END LIONS

After suffering two defeats at the hands of Bo Rangers and lowly Freetown City respectively, East End Lions received a further blow on Thursday 6th April 2021 when the premier league ruled against them in their abandoned match against newly promoted Bai Bureh Warriors.

According to a statement signed by the chairman of the Premier League Board Allieu Vandy Koroma, three points and three goals will be awarded to Bai Bureh Warriors and the former champions, East End Lions will also pay a fine of two million five hundred thousand Leones.

FIFA Boss arrives in Sierra Leone this week

Following announcement by SLFA, the football family in Sierra Leone will tomorrow receive the most powerful person in world football in the person of Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA. The statement says Infantino will be accompanied by the recently elected President of CAF Dr. Patrice Motsepe during a one day visit to Sierra Leone on Wednesday 5 May 2021.
