Diamond Stars criticize Coach Tito’s resignation

Management of Diamond Stars Football Club has criticized the manner of Coach Tito Cole's resignation saying it was disrespectful and lacked regard for the rules of the game.

In a press statement issued by the club on the 5th March, 2024, it informed supporters and fans that the club has received a resignation letter from Coach Tito Cole. It noted that the Coach is under contract for Diamond Stars for three seasons, and that his contract will expire in 2025.

Sports Minister eyes World Cup qualification for Sierra Leone

Minister of Sports, Augusta James Teima says in the next five years Sierra Leone will qualify for football’s greatest tournament- the World Cup.

Teima made this statement at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s Press Conference held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Freetown on 27th February, 2024.

"Finance for sport is not given on time, but we have launched the Sports Development Fund that would help us generate funds for sport activities," the Minister maintained.

Women’s Committee bans Police team doctor, for assaulting female referee

The Women’s Premier League Disciplinary Committee has banned the Team Doctor of Sierra Leone Police Football Club (SLPFC), Ibrahim Bangura from taking part in all future matches of the League and from attending them in the area immediately surrounding the fields of play and from all activities relating to the Board, indefinitely.

As attacks continue against women referees, PLB condemns violence against women

The Women’s Premier League Board (WPLB) has strongly condemned violence perpetuated against women following two recent attacks of female referees in Freetown and Kambia.

A Press release issued by the board on the 19th February, 2024 said it was disappointed and appalled by events in the match in Kambia between Patricia Umu FC and Sierra Leone Police Female on the 18th February, 2024 which it described as unacceptable.
