Kamboi Eagles appeal against disciplinary actions

Kamboi Eagles Football Club have protested the Emergency Committee’s decision to reschedule its home game against East End Lions to Freetown.

A decision which was announced on Tuesday by the Premier League Board, ordered both teams to play the remaining 12 minutes of their game behind closed doors in the capital.

On the 1st of February, the match between Kamboi Eagles and East End Lions was abruptly ended after pitch invasion which was caused by violence between the two sets of supporters.

Basketball: 10 teams brace up for WABA championship in Sierra Leone

Ten teams are bracing up for the Western Area Basketball Association Regional Tournament. WABA released fixtures for the compettion on Tuesday.

The tournament which will start on the 29th of February will see Goderich Blazers take on Upwards.

Umar Kargbo, Regional Organizing Secretary of WABA told Politico on Tuesday that the players are excited about the prospect of starting a new season.

Sierra Leone Premier League Review: Eagles losing momentum?

The Kamboi Eagles bubble have been busted, not once but twice in two weeks. At first, they went seven games without conceding any goal.

Then on match day eight, they conceded in the 4th minute against FC Johansen and it ended up being the winning goal for their opponents.

They had a chance at redemption against East End Tigers, but then they blew that chance again by losing 1-0.

FC Kallon to work on goalscoring

Coach of FC Kallon, Amidu Karim, has said his team will continue to work on goal scoring drills. Karim was speaking during a post-match press conference after his team’s sixth draw of the season.

On Thursday FC Kallon drew 0-0 with RSLAF, missing a chance to top the table for the first time this season.

The draw on Thursday now leaves FC Kallon with 18 points, after playing 10 games. The team has now drawn six games, four of them with 0-0 score lines.

Kenema artificial turf delayed, again

Work on the installation of an artificial turf at the Kenema playing field has been delayed yet again. The project which was supposed to have started last week is now running in to another week.

In an address by the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Isha Johansen on February 1st said: “Within the next two weeks we will start work in Kenema on the artificial turf. And Kenema will also have perhaps the best artificial turf in Africa.”

FC Johansen players donate to school in Kroobay

Three FC Johansen players have donated learning materials to Kroobay Community School. Samuel Bekoe, Mammudu Abdul Latif and Raphael Koroma all used a portion of their monthly salaries to embark on the humanitarian gesture.

The donation was done on Thursday, and the donated items include books, pencils, pens and chalk.

Sierra Leone swimming association launches website

Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association has got a website for the first time since its establishment in 1979.

The association becomes the first sporting discipline in the country, after football, to have an official website.
