Some 16 volleyball clubs across Sierra Leone are in Bo for the first ever national inter club championship. Eight male and eight female clubs have been drawn from 4 regions of the country.

A total of 192 athletes are taking part in the weeklong championship which started on Monday.

Mohamed Benson Bawoh, a commissioner for Volleyball referees, said this is the biggest national event the volleyball association had undertaken in the country.

Sierra Leone Female U-20 national team lost to their Senegalese counterparts 1-0 on Saturday. The loss means Sierra Queens have it all to do to turn the tie around by defeating Senegal in the second leg of this fixture.

This fixture is a preliminary qualifier for the FIFA Female U-20 World Cup which will be played in Panama and Costa Rica later this year.

Twenty-six teams are bracing up to compete for four spots in next season’s premier league. A press statement from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has confirmed that the preliminary qualifiers of the playoff will start on Tuesday, 21^st January.

16 teams were submitted from the East, West and Southern regions of the country from which four have been seeded as automatic qualifiers for the final phase of the playoff which will start on the 25^th January.

Ahead of its clash with Bo Rangers on Sunday, the coach of FC Kallon, Amidu Karim, has said he is optimistic about his team’s chances of winning all three points in Bo.

Karim was speaking at the post match press conference following his team’s stalemate with FC Johansen on Wednesday evening.

“I am very optimistic that we are going to take the three points that we are going for and come back to town,” he said.

East End Lions were stunned on Thursday afternoon by league minnows Anti-Drugs, when they were beaten 1-0 in Freetown.

Mohamed Koroma’s 33-minute goal was enough to win the match for Anti-Drugs.

This is their second win of the season; the win has now given them 8 points after 6 games.

The match was played at the Approved school.

The Lions will go back, lick their wounds and prepare to face Bo Rangers next week at the Siaka Steven Stadium.

FC Kallon have set sight on winning ahead of a crucial encounter with FC Johansen. The two clubs will face each other in Wednesday in what has been described as beautiful exhibition for football.

FC Kallon and FC Johansen are both known for flair and attacking football. This season the two sides are a sharp contrast to each other. Whiles FC Kallon is chasing the pack at the top, FC Johansen is still struggling to get their first win and establish a distance between them and the bottom.

 Kamboi Eagles defeated Mighty Blackpool 1-0 in Kenema to go five games in the league without conceding a goal. This means they have now played (7hrs 30 minutes (450 minutes) of football without conceding a goal.

Eagles are flying high on top of the table with 13 points. Head Coach of the team, Alhaji Foray told Politico that their rigidity at the back is a result of a long-term work that he has put in to training and personnel recruitment.
