Four Sierra Leoneans target Paralympics glory

Four vertically challenged athletes say they are optimistic to qualify and represent Sierra Leone in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan later this year.

Adama Kamara, Mayeali Conteh, Sheriff Abbass Koroma and Jennifer Posseh Mansaray hope to compete for the first time in categories like Discus, Javelin and Shotput.

Sheriff Abbass Koroma is preparing to represent the country in shotput. He said: “We have been doing some hard training and we compete to test our strength.

Sierra Leone FA announces FIFA’s approval for judicial bodies

The Sierra Leone Football Association has announced on Wednesday that football world governing body, FIFA has approved the judicial bodies that were set up during the Kenema congress.

In a statement from the FA on Wednesday, they quoted FIFA’s Chief Member Association Officer, Veron Mosengo-Omba saying, “We agree that these new organs are now the ones that have the competence to investigate such matters at local level.”

Another victory for Sierra Leone's female coach

Coach Victoria Conteh registered another win on Wednesday when her Eastern Tigers side demolished Mighty Blackpool by 3-0 score line.

The win has now taken Tigers top of the table for the first time this season. Conteh who became the first woman to take charge of a premier league side in Sierra Leone defeated league leaders Kamboi Eagles last weekend.

After Wednesday’s game, she praised the “fighting spirit” of his team.

Kamboi Eagles appeal against disciplinary actions

Kamboi Eagles Football Club have protested the Emergency Committee’s decision to reschedule its home game against East End Lions to Freetown.

A decision which was announced on Tuesday by the Premier League Board, ordered both teams to play the remaining 12 minutes of their game behind closed doors in the capital.

On the 1st of February, the match between Kamboi Eagles and East End Lions was abruptly ended after pitch invasion which was caused by violence between the two sets of supporters.

Basketball: 10 teams brace up for WABA championship in Sierra Leone

Ten teams are bracing up for the Western Area Basketball Association Regional Tournament. WABA released fixtures for the compettion on Tuesday.

The tournament which will start on the 29th of February will see Goderich Blazers take on Upwards.

Umar Kargbo, Regional Organizing Secretary of WABA told Politico on Tuesday that the players are excited about the prospect of starting a new season.

Sierra Leone Premier League Review: Eagles losing momentum?

The Kamboi Eagles bubble have been busted, not once but twice in two weeks. At first, they went seven games without conceding any goal.

Then on match day eight, they conceded in the 4th minute against FC Johansen and it ended up being the winning goal for their opponents.

They had a chance at redemption against East End Tigers, but then they blew that chance again by losing 1-0.

FC Kallon to work on goalscoring

Coach of FC Kallon, Amidu Karim, has said his team will continue to work on goal scoring drills. Karim was speaking during a post-match press conference after his team’s sixth draw of the season.

On Thursday FC Kallon drew 0-0 with RSLAF, missing a chance to top the table for the first time this season.

The draw on Thursday now leaves FC Kallon with 18 points, after playing 10 games. The team has now drawn six games, four of them with 0-0 score lines.
