Kamboi Eagles to regroup after first defeat

Kamboi Eagles coach, Alhaji Foray, has said his team would get back to the drawing board and analyze their way forward after their defeat on Wednesday.

Their seven match unbeaten run was ended by FC Johansen after Melvin Davies’ 4th minute goal at the National Stadium.

Eagles had not even conceded a goal through out the season before Davies scored against them.

SLFA invites 43 players to train for Nigeria clash

The Technical Team of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has on Wednesday published the names of 43 players to start training ahead of the Nigeria game.

Leone Stars of Sierra Leone will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Freetown on the 23rd of March, in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The second leg of the fixture will then be played in Nigeria a week later.

The fixture was originally scheduled to be played in September this year.

Kenema: Artificial pitch installation to start in two weeks

President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Isha Johansen, has said the installation of the artificial turf at the Kenema Town Field would start in the next two weeks.

Johansen made the statement during the association’s latest congress in Kenema over the weekend.

“Within the next two weeks we will start work in Kenema on the artificial turf. And Kenema will also have perhaps the best artificial turf in Africa,” Johansen said.

Kenema Congress deepens division in Sierra Leone football

“Welcome to Kenema”, the signpost just after Bandama checkpoint reads. What the signpost doesn’t tell you is how bad and dusty the road network is in the city. You hear or see the complaints through the media, but you don’t know the scale of the problem, until you get here. This city deserves better. But this is a topic for another day.

“Conclusive” and “Successful” are the two words coming out of the Sierra Leone Football Association in describing the Extra Ordinary Congress that was held in the city last weekend.

Division One league starts in eastern Sierra Leone

Fourteen teams have started playing in this season’s Division One league in Kenema District. The league which is organized by the Kenema District Football Association (KDFA) will see the winners and runners up compete for a premier league spot next season.

On Friday, defending champions, Kenema FC Kallon defeated Rendezvous Academy 1-0 in Kenema city. In Tongo, Lower Bambara Gem United FC drew 0-0 with Francess FC.

Sierra Leone to face Nigeria in March

Leone Stars will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in March in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The two-leg fixture was originally scheduled to be in September this year.

Sierra Leone is in the same group with Nigeria, Benin and Lesotho. The Leone Stars have already played Lesotho in Freetown where they drew 1-1. They travelled two days later to Benin where they lost 1-0.

The clash against Nigeria will be in Freetown on the 23rd March and the second leg away to Nigeria will be on March 31st.
