Sierra Leone regional FA calls off congres

Uncertainty over the Western Area Football Association congress continues as it was once again postponed.  Last Saturday, over 30 delegates and observers were packed in the Atlantic Hall in Freetown when the Director of Sports, Ibrahim Bangura called off the congress.

This is the second time the congress has been called off in the last seven months. In December 2015, the association had to postpone the congress because of internal anomalies.

Sheriff Suma critical of Sierra Leone’s participation in Rio

Former Sierra Leone footballer, Sheriff Suma has warned Sierra Leonean athletes not to run away in Brazil during the Olympics. He made the call in an interview with BBC sport this week.

The build up to the games has been dominated by the scare of the Zika virus in Brazil; this has seen some top athletes boycotting the games. However, the Sierra Leone delegation is willing to travel to the sporting event.

How Portugal conquered Europe

EURO 2016 was a tournament for the under dogs. Teams like Wales, Iceland and Hungary flourished under this newly expanded form of the competition. And more than any other team in this competition, Portugal have UEFA to thank for extending this tournament to 24 teams; this was what allowed Portugal to progress from the group stage even when they finished third.

Portugal becomes the first team in the history of Euro to finish third in their group and still go on to win the Euro.

COFA wraps up 2016 tournament

Mountain City were crowned champions of the COFA (Central One Football Association) Inter Area football competition, after they defeated Fullah Town FC by a score line of 1-0.

The match last Sunday was Mountain City’s first appearance ever in the final of the tournament.

Champions League Final: The ultimate Madrid derby

On Saturday night, two of the very best teams in the world will face off each other in the Champions League final. Real Madrid will be playing against city rivals Athletico Madrid, the second Madrid derby final in Europe in three years.

San Siro would be set alight with brilliance, as Real hunt for ‘Undecima ’ (Eleventh Champions League) crown, whiles Athletico would be out to grab their first one.
