Raymond Lewis Blasts Lions Players

The Caretaker Coach of EE Lions Football Club Raymond Lewis, Aka Mourinoh, has expressed dismay over his player’s performance in a 1-1 draw with their arch rivals Mighty Black Pool Football Club over the weekend.

The match was part of the ongoing Premier League organized by the Awoko faction of the SLFA ((SLFA-A) at the national Stadium.

Lewis attributed that poor performance to the lack of regular training by his players, noting that since he took over as caretaker coach of the club this had been the problem of the players.

FA Cup to Commence in March

The Sierra Leone Football Association Isha Johansen faction (SLFA-J) has announced the pending commencement of its FA Cup tournament after a seven year break in the contest.

Abu Bakarr Kamara, head of SLFA-J media team, told politico that the northern provincial headquarter of Makeni will play host to the tournament that is slated to commence on March 5. He said preparation was ongoing as they were expecting between 170 and190 teams to take part in the competition nationwide.

‘FIFA must change’ - say stakeholders

A group of football administrators in Sierra Leone has said it will petition President Ernest Bai Koroma to consider “setting up a judicial inquiry to investigate the activities of the Sierra Leone Football Association.”

Fans mourn Sierra Leone football

Some football fans have staged a peaceful demonstration yesterday and later converged on the Cotton Tree to “mourn the death of football in Sierra Leone”.

Calling themselves the Patriotic Citizens and Concerned Sports fans, the processors about 200 in number, mainly young people who are involved with the sports, said they were concerned at the deterioration of interest in the game.

FC Johansen Pull out of new leagues as RSLAF Contemplate

FC Johansen Football Club has pulled out of the proposed premier league being organized by the Football Stakeholders schedule to commence this weekend.

According to John Keister, head Coach of FC Johansen, his team will not be part of the league which is not recognized by the SLFA.

FC Johasen is owned and managed by Isha Johansen who heads the other faction of the FA.

FC Johansen is guided with the rules and directive of the SLFA which they will adhere to as a member, Keister told Politico Sports.

Premier League clubs brace-up for nation-wide league

As the date for the nationwide league approaches, 13 out of 14 premier league football clubs across the country are currently bracing-up for the kick-off this weekend.

The league which is organized by the rival faction of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) who called themselves the Stakeholders is scheduled to start on Saturday 30th January at the Siaka Stevens Stadium.
