SWASAL Create partnership with SLVA

The Sports Writers Associations of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) has announced a partnership with the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association, in line with its objectives to give equal opportunities to all sporting disciplines in terms of adequate coverage, both locally and internationally.

Run 4 A Reason Marathon set for September

The Run 4 A Reason marathon, which will be organized by One Management (OM) in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA), has been set for 27 September 2015 in Freetown.

Production and Marketing Executive of OM, Randa Alieyaa Sheriff, said that the purpose of setting up the run is for athletes to show case their talent in running long distance races and to prepare themselves for future international competitions.

Foulah Town engages Leister City Today

Foulah Town will today take on Leicester City as part of the Central One Football Association gala, which commenced over the weekend.

Team manager of Foulah Town Community, Alpha Rashid, said that the gala will serve as training for his players ahead of the inter-community competitions proper.

“My community team has proven well in several competitions in the country and we want to continue with the same trend in this gala competition, we have the required players and we are sure of securing victory in today’s match’’ he bluffed.

WFA chair unveils short term plans

Recently elected chairman of the Waterloo Football Association (WFA) Kebbie Sesay has said that his plans for the district will be implemented in the short term.

This he said amongst other things will include giving a facelift to the secretariat and bring in lot of developmental activities that will improve the state of football in the district.

He claimed his recent victory was as a result of his management output with the FC Kallon Jr team in Waterloo.

SLAA Congress may be moved to another date

The Public Relations officer of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association Abu Baraca Sparky has said that the scheduled date for the Extra-Ordinary Congress which was 5 September 2015, may be moved to another date.

This he said was according to the sports ministry’s advice to them saying that it will be good for them to defer the congress till after the All African Games in Congo on 3 September 2015.

FIFA dele expected today

A press release issued by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) states that a two-man team from the football governing body is expected in Freetown today 27 August to help in ensuring that the validation process of appointing delegates within the Sierra Leone football fraternity is in line with the laws of both the SLFA and FIFA statutes.

The two-man team includes FIFA’s Primo Corvaro and Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi, they will work with the SLFA and the appointed 7 man committee suggested by President Koroma.

SLFA submits names to State House at last

After much delay, the Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA has submitted a list of three names to represent them in a committee charged with the responsibility of regularising the status of delegates eligible to attend the organisation's congress. The special committee which will prepare the way for the arrival of a special FIFA delegation in September also includes three nominees of a group opposed to Isha Johansen's leadership, commonly called Football Stakeholders, and one member from the Ministry of Sports.
