Camp Canada Athletics this weekend…

All roads lead to the Trade Centre Grounds in Freetown for this year's athletics competition organised by Camp Canada Athletics club.

The holder of the national records in the 110m & 400m hurdles Amara Taylor Kamara told Politico that he is "currently undergoing rigorous training" as he prepares for the 84th traditional Boxing Day Sport meeting at the national stadium.

Defeated Sierra Queens Back Home

Sierra Leone national female U-20 national team Sierra Queens who suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Falconet of Nigeria, are back in Freetown. Sierra Queens lost 10-0 in the preliminary rounds of the female World Cup qualifiers for Canada 2014.

Many fans who spoke to Politico said the defeat did not came as a surprise because "there is no active female league going on in Sierra Leone". They said SLFA's support for female had also steadily dwindled over the years.

Sierra Leone amputee gala starts next week

This year's Amputee Soccer Gala sponsored by the mobile phone company, Airtel starts on 7th November at the National Stadium. At a formal launching ceremony at Airtel headquarters in Freetown, the company's Corporate Affairs officer, June-Rose Johnson said her company was pleased to support the three-day  gala because it demonstrates that there is "Ability in Disability".

Hammers FC vs. Boie FC

Hammers will lock horns with  Boie FC  tomorrow Thursday 30th October, in the quarter final replay of the 1st edition of the Ishmael Al- Sankoh Conteh football tournament at the Brima Atouga Complex.

Hammer FC over-powered  Pizzo FC 3-0 while their opponents Foday Boie FC narrowly defeated Western Eagles 1-0 in the second round of the competition.

‘’Football Unites People’’ Pastor Buck

The 4th edition of the "Return to Sender" inter-community Football League is due to start in November at the Approved School grounds, according to the competition organiser, Pastor Philip Buck.

Pastor Buck told Politico that he believes in using football to bring young people together "considering the problems the youths have been facing during the past years in this country". Buck said, "I have embarked on several projects including Lantern Parades, Athletics competitions, and live singing competitions as a method of evangelism and bringing souls to God’s kingdom”.
