Sierra Leone president mourns with Turkey over earthquakes

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has in letter empathises with the government and people of Turkey, following twin earthquakes that wreaked havoc in the country.

President Julius Maada Bio in the Letter addressed to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey stated Sierra Leone’s relationship with Turkey, saying that he strongly believed that with resilience, Turkish people would recover from that tragedy and build a great nation.

“I pray for God’s merciful judgment on the departed, and for their souls to rest. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and esteem,” it reads.

The country on Monday 6th February this year experienced one  of the most powerful twin earthquakes ever recorded in Turkey of a large-scale destruction wrought by 7.8 and 7.5 magnitudes struck, 23 kilometers (14.2 miles) east of Nurdagi Gaziantep province, near Syrian border, at a depth of 24.1 kilometer (14.9 miles); killing thousands while leaving many displaced.
