FC Kallon suffer defeat and mass resignations

  • Mohamed Kallon

FC Kallon were defeated in Bo last week by defending champions and current league leaders, Bo Rangers. Two goals from goal machine Abu Komeh from the spot and Musa Tombo condemned the Cavaliers to the sixth defeat in the current season leaving them 14 points behind Bo Rangers.

Meanwhile, ahead of last weekend’s match the club was hit by a wave of resignations which sports analysts have described as shocking. Within a few hours the club’s coach Charlie Wright tendered his resignation saying “while my time as the football coach of Kallon Football Club has been an unforgettable journey, I am excited to explore new opportunities and experience, where I can continue to utilize my skills and knowledge to help develop football in the country”. Wright has served FC Kallon for 12 years.

Alhaji Komba, Secretary General also quit after 12 years thanking the team for their “guidance and support as I went through the ranks to attain the height of being the Secretary General”. The Club’s Public Relations Officer has also resigned. Alhaji H. Koroma hasn’t spoken publicly about the reason for his departure but there are speculations that the selection of officers for the club’s recent visit to Italy is at the heart of the reasons for the sudden resignations.

In their reaction to the mass resignations the management of FC Kallon issued a press release saying “We respect their decisions to leave the club and we are shortly going to make appointments to fill those positions. We are much more focused on our objectives and priorities to develop our players and contribute to the growth of football, by changing the lives of many people…”

Tunde Scott, General Manager of FC Kallon said on the popular CTN sport program that Coach Charlie Wright was angry over being dropped for the team’s recent trip to Italy. He said Secretary General Komba and PRO Koroma probably left because of their busy schedules in their other jobs. He wished them well.
