Orange Sierra Leone, one of the leading telecommunication companies in Sierra Leone has assured of the security of the telecom's cloud service it provides dubbed “Orange Cloud Solution”.
Presenting the service at a Media engagement held at the company's headquarters in Freetown on Friday 2nd June this year, Cecelia Okachuku, Head of Business at Orange SL said that the Cloud service provided by the company is out of the desire to support companies in their digital transformation drive.
She assured that the IT infrastructure and data backup services are secure and reliable. “ It’s good to have a backup system stored in a secured place so that even if you have problems with your devices in the office, your data will still be safe,” she said.
The services offered according to her are a Virtual Server, Virtual Datacenter which has a set of computer resources to host an entire information system, a Backup as a Service that saves data in the Orange Secure Cloud, and Physical Server Hosting which provides a safe and secure space for individuals or business entities.
Delivering his keynote address at the event, the Deputy Chief Director at Orange SL, Bolor Sesay acknowledged the important role of the media in the growth and development of the company. As a company, he said they rely on both the mainstream and the digital media to ensure their activities and products reach their customers. “The media serves as a platform for Orange to promote its brand values and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives,” he said.
In her statement, OrangeSL’s General Secretary, Danetta Younge admitted that the growth of the company cannot be unconnected to the contributions of the media in ensuring that the public gets accurate information about the company. She noted that they still have trusted media institutions that they can turn to despite the proliferation of fake news on social media.
The President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, acknowledged the mutual relationship that has over the years existed between the company and media institutions across the country.
He noted that the Company was the first corporate institution that supported the Journalists Welfare Fund launched by SLAJ.
Updating the media about the activities of the company, the Head of Media and Public Relations, Kamal Abass noted that the introduction of Mobile Money services for non-Oranges subscribers is to ensure access to mobile money services for all. “You can now use Orange Money services from other mobile Networks through the Orange Money App,” he said.
In addition to other contributions, he said the company supported the planting of three hundred trees at the Mortormeh Mudslide site and the launch of the Orange Foundation among others.
Kamal noted that his company is tax compliant and that in 2022 it paid two hundred and eighty-four billion Leones on local tax.
