President Julius Maada Bio has officially opened the new ultra-modern building of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) named ‘Integrity House’ at Tower Hill, Freetown.

Deputy Commissioner of the ACC, Augustine Foday-Ngobie in his welcome statement congratulated the people of Sierra Leone for what he referred to as the hard work displayed in the fight against corruption which he said has resulted in the construction of the building. He also thanked President Bio and his Government for their support in fighting against corruption at all times.

Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NACSA), Dr. Sao-Kpato Hannah Isata Max-Kyne lauded the ACC for its efforts in the fight against corruption. She also praised the Government for its continued unwavering support in addressing the problems of corruption in the public sector.

The ACC Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala in his remarks pointed out that the construction of the integrity house was entirely funded by the Government of Sierra Leone. He thanked the President and Government of Sierra Leone for the enormous financial and moral support to the commission over the last five years.

“Your Excellency, we would not have made all these achievements without the strong and exceptional Presidential and Political will and support we have had from you and your Government,” he said.

In his statement, President Bio re-echoed the government’s dedication and unflinching support to the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone. He also said that since his government came into office five years ago, it has taken a robust stance on corruption, one of his manifesto commitments.

He noted that the favourable and unprecedented local and international indexes and rankings the country has made in the last five years are clear demonstrations of the government’s commitment to the national anti-corruption campaign.

“Despite the financial difficulties in the world, my government continued its support to the construction of the ACC building,” he said.

The ACC is an independent institution established for the prevention, investigation, prosecution, and punishment of corruption, and corrupt practices.
