Unidentified body discovered in Waterloo

The Police in Waterloo say residents in a community called Fullah Town have alerted officers to the site of an unidentified adult male corpse.

An update from the Waterloo Police Division Media dated 15th July, 2023 said the body  of the man whose  name and address could not be traced, was discovered with a deep  wound to the forehead, and with a broken leg and several lacerations all over his body.

The Waterloo Police had asked the public to help them with useful information in respect of the said corpse.

The incident happened less than a week after 59-year-old Kadie Hassan’s lifeless body was found under a mattress at her Bofla Community residence between Benguema Road and Fulla Town in Waterloo. Her feet were tied together, and had lacerations on her body.

Her mutilated body was discovered in the evening hours of Wednesday 5th July, 2023 by neighbors who then alerted the police.

The Media Officer and Spokesperson of the Waterloo Police Division, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alieu Jalloh told Politico that they responded to distress calls from the Bofla Community and were led to a one-room and parlor house inhabited by the deceased where her body was found.

On the 16th April 2023 Police also discovered the remains of Kabba Santigie Bangura, a Lecturer at the Geography Department,Fourah Bay College, buried in the ‘shrine’ of a witch- doctor at Sherbro Town, 4 Mile, in the outskirts of Waterloo. Bangura was declared missing by the Sierra Leone Police on the 6th March, 2023.

The witch-doctor named Ibrahim Kalokoh has since appeared in court, charged with murder. Waterloo has a high crime rate, according to the Police.
