Three major Sierra Leone Premier League football clubs go down!

By Politico staff writer

Shock waves have swept through Sierra Leone’s football landscape after three Premier League clubs, Kamboi Eagles, East End Tigers and FC Johansen got relegated over the weekend.

It was a final day of anguish for players, officials and supporters of the clubs especially Kamboi Eagles who will play Division One football next season- the first drop by the club since 1956.

Eagles defeated East End Lions by two goals to nil on Saturday and had hoped Lamboi FC will lose to the already relegated Tigers. Lamboi determined and fearful about the prospect of playing lower tier football next season crushed Tigers 3-0.

FC Johansen had also hoped for a miracle on the last day but even their 2-1 victory over Freetown City FC could not save them.Johansen is owned and named after owner Isha Johansen-the former President of the Sierra Leone Football Association. Victor Lewis is the owner of Tigers.

All three clubs- Eagles, Johansen and Tigers will feature in the Division One League next season.
