Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai the Lawyer for Mohammed Kamarainba Mansaray has confirmed to Politico that his client has been granted bail on "compassionate grounds."
Speaking to Politico in an interview on 9th September this year, amidst social media posts about the release of the 2018 presidential Candidate for the opposition Alliance Democratic Party, who is serving a 32-year sentence for sexual penetration of a minor, Abdulai said his client is not well and cannot be in prison as he needs medical attention.
On whether Kamarainba will be allowed to be flown abroad for medical treatment, Abdulai said: "We don't know, and we are exploring all of that”.
Two days before Kamarainba's bail was granted, there was news making rounds on social media stating he was dead.
On the following day however, Politico contacted the Communication Manager for the Sierra Leone Correctional Service, Leslie Cole-Showers who dispelled the said rumor, but he noted that Kamarainba was sick but was walking and talking.
In a social media post, the Judiciary of Sierra Leone stated "The Court of Appeal has just granted bail to convict, Mohammed Kamarainba Mansaray pending his appeal."
The convict however denied all count charges levied against him.
The health condition of Kamarainba was widespread on social media in recent times until this bail by the court of appeal.
