Magistrate Mark Ngegba has remanded one Foday Kamara on the allegation of obtaining three hundred million old Leones (Le 300,000,000) from the complainant, Josephus Sallu Mannah by falsely pretending that he owned a piece of land for sale.
The prosecution alleges that on diverse dates between January 1st, 2021, and December 31, 2022, the accused obtained money from the complainant for a plot of land at Mammah Beach in the Western Area Rural District.
The accused also stands accused of causing the same complainant to pay forty-five million old Leones (Le 45, 000,000) to another person to develop a piece of land at Mammah Beach knowing the transaction to be false.
The accused pleaded not guilty to three counts of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretense, and causing money to be paid to another by means to defraud.
In a separate case, the accused is also charged with defrauding one Rosaline Conteh. Prosecutors say on diverse days, 1st February and 31st July 2021, he defrauded Ms. Conteh of the sum of eighty-seven million seven hundred and ninety-three old Leones (Le 87, 793,000).
According to court files he did so by falsely pretending that he would buy the complainant four (4) plots of land at the same Mammah Beach. He also pleaded not guilty to all the allegations.
The case resumes on the 30th of October this year.
