Hip-hop artiste Star Zero, real name Linda Samai, was at the Pademba Road Magistrates Court No 6 on a one-count charge of defamatory libel. Arguably the country’s foremost female artiste, she was initially refused bail by Magistrate Alhaji Koroma and, on grounds of technicalities, the matter transferred to the Magistrate Court No 3 presided over by Bankole Shyllon. The particulars of offence were that the accused, sometime this year maliciously defamed the character of her arch rival songstress Wilhelmina John aka Willy J. The Magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of Le 5 million and one surety. The matter was adjourned to the 14 May for further hearing. Meanwhile, in the Magistrate Court No 2, Komba Kamanda has convicted three persons for the unlawful possession of cannabis sativa also known as jamba after they pleaded guilty. Appearing for the first time in court, first accused Mohamed Bailor Bah, was fined Le250,000 or to serve a three-month imprisonment. Second accused, Mary Kargbo, was fined Le 150,000 or she goes to jail for two months. And third accused, Abdulai Bah, was also fined Le200,000 or he spends two months behind bars.
