"I want the game to play" - Mohamed Kallon

The chairman of premier league side FC Kallon, has told a news conference called by the organisers of the on-going Super League that all he wants is for football to be played continuously in the country

Speaking at Josben Complex, Kallon said: 'As a footballer and also representing footballers the most important thing for me is to see football play, if it plays we will see the development of players as well, that is what I want and am sure I will succeed”

He said the league idea originated from the chairman of  Old Edwardians Chairman Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, who he said " brought us onboard and we started moving gradually up to this stage".

Kallon told journalists that they were faced with funding for the league as they had to spend their own money, including that of other premier league clubs. “We proposed to use the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) football academy, we made our request but it was ignored, we also wrote to the Minister of Sports Paul Kamara for the use of the national stadium but he has still not replied” he said.

The sponsorship of Mercury International he said came at the right time when clubs had taken the competition very seriously, adding that they will be seeking sponsorship from other business houses so that the league will have its normal momentum.

He called on other football stake holders who are not part of this league to come on board to improve the state of football in the country.
