Sierra Leone's former ambassador to China, Abdulai Karim Koroma and a former consular staff, Sahr Johnny are to answer to a number of queries from the Parliamentary Public Affairs Committee about observations made in the Auditor’s General Report of 2011 on the untilisation of public funds at the Sierra Leone embassy in China.
The queries centre around monies allegedly collected by the two former officials as retirement benefits, salary advance and diplomatic assets.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Director General, Rasin Kargbo told the committee that they had received the report but didn't state which specific official was required to reply to the queries.
The Director General promised to quickly inform the former diplomats about the queries so they could respond.
Meanwhile the chairman of the Committee, Chernor Bah, MP, told representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies at the hearing that his committee would not accept any more excuses from them because "it's becoming a habit for you not to come with documents requested for and for some of your officials not to attend the sittings".
