Mountain City FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Mack FC, in the opening match of the Central One Football Association (COFA) non-division league, at the parade grounds over the weekend.
Mountain City scored first in the 65th minute with a goal from Alpha John Sama. But Real Mack equalised from the penalty spot, after a Mountain City defender was judged to have handled the ball in the box in the 85th minute. Sam King took the penalty kick.
Swaibu Kargbo, Mountain City’s Coach praised his boys performance describing the result as a good one for him. He said “for me to force the defending champions to a draw is a plus for me I am very happy’’.
Coach Junior Konneh of Real Mack blamed his boys for not taking their chances which denied them all three points.
The competition continues today Tuesday 25th June, with Ginger Hall FC engaging Talaban FC. On Wednesday 26th, Luawa FC will face Med Mans FC.
