The Local Sports Promoting Committee (LSPC) at Wilberforce yesterday 15th July started a two day workshop on the theme ‘’Get the First Step Right’’ at the Manley Hall Regent Road Wilberforce.
Deputy Minister of Sports Ishmail Al-Sankoh Conteh, who was also the guest speaker, told the gathering that at community level it was vital to upgrade the youths because the problems that affect them remains the setting up of community teams to end situations where teams are owned by one person.
“Every community club needs to have an executive member involved in the community and is charged with the collective rather than individual interests". He said, "all football organization should work with the ministry to demonstrate reliability and sustainability and protect themselves in the future” he warned.
He advised that all football organization to work with regional bodies affiliated with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). He spoke about the laws of the game which according to him are most times being misinterpreted by some football fanatics during matches.
Sankoh called on the participants that, “I want you to take this workshop very seriously as this will help you know how to conduct community football”.
The chairman of LSPC Madieu AAT Kabba said the workshop was organized to highlight some of the problems faced in football matches which normally end in chaos and added that the workshop will come out with solutions to deal with such problems.
