An alleged case of murder, involving one Amara Vandi, has been committed to the High Court for hearings.
The particulars of offense were that on Thursday 13 March, 2013 at Dauda Town in the Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema District one Alpha Vandi murdered a certain Umaru Barrie. Three witnesses were led in evidence by the prosecution.
In his ruling Magistrate Momoh Jah Stevens said the accused had a case to answer because there was sufficient evidence for the matter to be committed to High Court. The accused was refused bail.
In the same court, an accused, Abdul Kamara, was arraigned on five counts of flouting traffic rules. He pleaded guilty to all the charges and was sentenced to one month in prison on each of the five count charges or pay an alternative fine of Le500, 000.
In an unrelated matter, Habib Koroma was charged with loitering after he had been caught on Friday 12 July at the entrance of the Presidential Lodge in Kenema. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months in prison or asked to pay a fine of Le 400, 000.
The Magistrate cautioned Habib that presidential premises were not places for loiterers. He said that if the act was repeated, he would give him a mandatory custodial sentence.
