Salone Premier League…Edwards, Kallon, Kissy no third Chances

By Zainab Joaque

Six decisive matches are scheduled for today Wednesday 6 June across the country. These second round return legs will take place in Freetown, Makeni and Bo. A win for Old Edwardian or FC Kallon will see one of the two leading the table and if Kissy All Stars win their away match they will move out of the relegation zone.

Actions begin this afternoon at the National Stadium, as Kamboi Eagles will go all out to overturn their first round 1-0 defeat to Old Edwardians.“I do respect my opponents, and I know it will not be an easy encounter for us, a win for us will see us on top the table, I am expecting Kamboi Eagles to be well prepared for the showdown” said Edwards Scribe Amidu Koroma aka Freaky.

Edwards are coming into this match after losing away to Wusum Stars in Makeni.

In Makeni, Wusum Stars will play host to Kissy All Stars who won the first leg 1-0 in Freetown. Wusum Stars are hoping to repeat their performance in their last match when they defeated highly fancied, Old Edwardian. Brima Jalloh blamed their first round defeat to Kissy All Starts on “bad refereeing and injuries to their players.” But he said his players are now physically fit and determined to take on Kissy All Stars.

Some football analysts have suggested that this time Kissy All Stars would finally end their weak defending, but that the paucity of goals in their favour had more to do with their overall standard of football and they lost their competitive edge at the back end of  the first leg.

At the Coronation Field in Bo, hosts Bo Rangers will enter the field of play 1-0 down to FC Kallon. FC Kallon coach Charlie Wright told Politico Sports that even though they will be missing three of their key players, Mohamed Kallon, Gibrilla Fofanah and goalkeeper Christian caulker who are on national assignment he was sure that will not affect his team’s strength to take on Bo Rangers. “We may start with a slender 1-0 advantage but we are sure of leading the table again” said Coach Wright.

League leaders Diamond Stars will be eagerly awaiting the result from Freetown and Bo, as a win for Edwards or Kallon will see another team leading the table.
