Salone Premier League…Kallon in tricky away tie up north

  • FC Kallon

By Zainab Joaque

There have been significant developments in the past few weeks to suggest the battle for points will be quite intense. Today in Makeni Wusum Stars will play host to FC Kallon. A win for Kallon will see them occupy the top of the table. Both teams drew their last matches.

Wusum stars failed to inspire confidence after a disappointing goalless draw at home with Kamboi Eagles from Kenema. FC Kallon on the other hand were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Johansen, but Coach Charlie Wright has hinted that the result is not bad enough and will serve as a boost when they travel to Makeni. In Freetown FC Johansen will lock horns with Mighty Blackpool, who are bursting with fresh zeal after their 3-1 drubbing of Old Edwardians last weekend. Blackpool lost to Johansen 2-1 in the first leg, but their recent form has clearly suggested that they are irrepressibly efficient, which should  be a problem for Johansen, desperately in need of points to shrug off the challenge from the table’s surprise packet, Mighty Blackpool. Tomorrow, Central Parade whose confidence surged back after their 2-0 victory over Gem Stars on Tuesday, are set to take on Old Edwardians. But Edwards are bent on calling the shots this time round after a devastating loss to the Tiss Tass Boys. On Friday, East End Lions will battle it out with Ports Authority. The rivalry between these two football teams from the east of the city will be the highlight of this week’s matches as they fight for supremacy. Also, it is in the hands of Coach Derrick Boison to save Gem Stars as his team search for the winning formula to lift them out of the relegation zone after their baptism of fire at the hands of Central Parade.
