SWASAL Create partnership with SLVA

The Sports Writers Associations of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) has announced a partnership with the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association, in line with its objectives to give equal opportunities to all sporting disciplines in terms of adequate coverage, both locally and internationally.

The national executive of SWASAL on Monday 2nd November cemented their working relationship with SLVA following a courtesy call at the latter`s headquarters on Siaka Stevens street in Freetown. SWASAL Secretary General, Sahr Moris Jnr, thanked SLVA for the reception accorded them within a short notice.

He spoke on the need for training, among others, as a goal for the organization.

SAWSAL President Frank Cole spoke of the existing long ties between both associations and assured of his executive`s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities in terms of publicity and coverage to all local sporting disciplines.

‘’SWASAL believe this partnership with the SLVA will yield positive dividend as it is a win-win situation,’’ said Cole.

In his remarks the president of SLVA Christopher John described the courtesy call as laudable gesture, adding that the volleyball family continued to make positive strides partly due to the effort of the local media.

“We (SLVA) pledge our total commitment to continue working with SWASAL to further develop and promote volleyball,” he said.

The Association’s Secretary General Ahmed Khanu, in his statement said that working together with SWASAL was a golden opportunity. He stressed the need for sharing ideas and formulating programs and policies that would enhance the general growth of sports in the country.

Khanou also gave update on SLVA upcoming event including the ‘Africa Dream Project’, which he said was aimed at scouting talents at an early age.

Both parties eventually agreed on training of SWASAL members and proving extensive coverage of local international competitions.
