The Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Sorie Ibrahim Sesay has told Politico sport that the ban imposed on the Sporting Kansas City striker, Kei Kamara and the FK Baku midfielder, Ibrahim `Obreh` Kargbo is still in place despite persistent rumors that the two players have been cleared to re-join the national team.
The two players were left out of coach Olof Mattesons squad for Sierra Leone’s encounter with Tunisia following a ban imposed on them jointly by the Minister of Sports and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) for improper conduct.
Sesay denied reports that SLFA presidential candidate, Isha Johansen has pleaded with the minister to allow the players to re-join the squad.
He said, “The rumors surrounding those players are baseless and unfounded, the ban will only be reversed only if the two players used the same radio stations that they used to insult members of the FA and Minister to apologize to both the FA and minister, we have many players that want to make their mark for the national side, therefore instilling discipline in the team will help greatly,” Sesay said.
