In an effort to address the many concerns raised by property owners mainly in Freetown during the reign of his predecessor Dr. Dennis Sandy, the new minister Dr. Turad Senessi has announced the setting up of a committee to investigate all land- related issues between Apri-2018 and January 2021.
According to the press statement issued on Monday 8th February 2021 the composition of the committee will be communicated to the public in due course but that in the meantime “all decisions and actions taken by the ministry of lands, Housing and country planning during the period April 2018 to January 2021 remain valid and unchanged until the government decides otherwise.”
The minister also slammed an immediate moratorium on the “on the allocation/sale of all state lands for private use in the Western Area”
Dr. Sandy who was among the first set of appointments made by President Julius Maada Bio also served in the former administration of Ernest Bai Koroma in the same ministry.
President Julius Maada Bio recently asked Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh to receive and deal with complaints from citizens about the acquisition and use of lands in the Western Area of the country.
