The Team Manager of Kambui Eagles Football club Mohamed S. Mansaray has resigned from his job.
He told Politico there has been too much misinformation from outsiders who claim money has been going into the club that has not been reflected in the players.
He stated that he managed the club for eight months successfully and described allegations directed against the management of the club as baseless. He said even the club’s Chairman Brima Mazzola Kamara has been using his personal funds on the club, but has not been given the required recognition and instead subjected to frustrating statements from some people.
Mansaray further stated that monies coming into the club cannot even address the needs of the players and the club in general. He disclosed how then Chief Minister Prof. David Francis single-handedly provided a bus for the team but backed out because of similar problems
According to Mansaray, some individuals are in the habit of calling a few players and giving them reasonable amount of money without going through the management of Kambui Eagles.
”Bypassing the team executive and giving special gifts to a few players will demotivate and frustrate the management. I will not be part of such an organization”, he said.
He claimed the Board of Kambui Eagles has been ineffective and the club is saddled with “too much politics”.
He pointed out that since he took over as manager the team had lost only one game out of nine games played, though nine players are under serious injury. Chairman Brima Mazzola Kamara confirmed through a phone conversation that the resignation of Mansaray was out of frustration and lack of appreciation of the good work of the executive in managing the club.
