Victorious Leone Stars Team B to meet Mali

Leone Stars Team B comprising home based players will meet Mali in home and away matches in the next seven weeks, for a place in the CHAN tournament in Algeria next January.

Leone Stars B defeated Cape Verde in their home tie 2-0 played in Morocco last week but lost the away leg played also played in Morocco 1-2 but qualified for the final knockout 3-2 on aggregate.

Striker Alie Conteh got the brace in the first leg whilst Prince Barrie netted the opener in the away game, which proved invaluable in the end.

Before leaving Sierra Leone last week the boys were in high spirit. They played 11 friendlies, winning 10 and drawing one. Team Manager Alhaji Umar Bah told Politico a before their departure that he was confident that the boys will do well. And true to his prediction, the players didn’t disappoint. They put up a fantastic display especially in the first match.

Bah who was appointed Team Manager last month promised a personal gift of $10,000 dollars should the team reach Algeria. CHAN is a tournament set aside for players in Leagues in the continent so they could attract international attention. Coach Zappa and support staff are certainly building a side that’s showing a very promising future.
