CONSTITUENCY 110 IS NOW A NATIONAL DISGRACE

Surely we must now call what is happening in Constituency 110 in the Freetown Peninsula a national disgrace – a complete disgrace. And we may have some issues with the body that conducts our elections, the National Electoral Commission but we absolutely blame those politicians and their army of zombie boys who, year after year have put their youthful energies and future into the hands of greedy politicians, concerned only about power and the wealth that flows from it.

Are the politicians telling us that there can be no peaceful election in that small part of Sierra Leone? We don’t want to read any press releases from any political parties attempting to tell us what happened and what they think about it. We were on the ground in some areas and we have asked those who should know and have reached the conclusion that the whole saga leading to the cancellation is a total disgrace. There is no excuse and certainly no explanation is required. See where we are now as a nation. Can some people please answer the following questions we ask now on behalf of the good people of Sierra Leone:

1. We know MAC–P is now in force to fight armed robbery, according to official communication so why were the forces not promptly deployed to deal with troublemakers? After all, those who wasted the nation’s money in that abortive election are worse than the armed robbers stealing from people on the streets.

2. How much money did we spend to run this election that has just been cancelled and where does NEC expect to get more money for the rerun they just called?

3. We understand people are already heading to the courts to challenge the decision of NEC. Let justice prevail. Are we sure this will happen?

4. Is it possible to open up all the election materials, including ballot papers, to international inspection? Why didn’t NEC cancel the rotten pooling center and THORPE the winner into parliament?

5. If there are people who are constantly going around doing stupid things to bring the electoral process in Sierra Leone to disrepute can we please identify them and put them away for a long time? Many people in Sierra Leone just want to move on with their normal lives. We are fed up with elections that really mean nothing to us.

FAULTY MICROPHONE RUINS PRINCIPAL’S BIG DAY

So Principal turned up at Radisson the other day to launch his block chain project which we are told is the first in Africa. The man was making history in a country that has not led the continent in anything for many decades. What a big day this was for him personally and the country as a whole. Congratulations dear Principal and congratulations to the land that we love.

However, we cannot conclude this joyous piece without talking about that microphone that almost ruined the event as Principal spoke. Who actually brought that public address system into the room? How come they chose that rotten system not fit for a high school party? A lot of people were clearly embarrassed as the microphone kept failing at crucial moments.

During the last presidential debate the microphone in front of the presidential candidate of the then incumbent party failed many times. And this was at the most prestigious conference center in Sierra Leone – Bintumani Hotel. Recently, at the Commonwealth Telecommunication Organization conference, microphones failed again. So what is the problem with microphones in this country? Or is it the fault of those technical people working with the public address system?

This Radisson Blu incident should be investigated. It has nothing to do with God or bad luck or cold weather. It was a matter of somebody not taking their job seriously. Take action now!

NPSE RESULTS, FAILING SCHOOLS AND TEACHER TIMBO

Teacher Timbo says ONE HUNDRED schools had disgracefully failed grades in the last National Primary School-leaving Exams. If we didn’t see him saying this on TV, we would have dismissed any such statement as one of those tasteless social media or fake news jokes. But this is real. Teacher has promised to do something about those schools but we have not been given any details. We need Teacher to fill that blank space right now.

We know Teacher has been in office for just over a year and may well have inherited the situation we now have in front of us created by that ghost-chasing minister whose TEN-year hold on our education system was a catalogue of unmitigated disasters. But what has Teacher done to change things after one year? Here’s what we think about the one hundred albatrosses now hanging around Teacher’s neck:

1. Teacher has to be honest with this nation and tell us that these are really not schools. They are criminal enterprises set up largely by untrained and unqualified teachers with the sole aim of stealing from unsuspecting people. That’s all.

2. Teacher should also tell us about the status of his inspectorate division. How come he didn’t see this coming? He should have known that the so-called schools were failing badly and action taken to prevent this shameful situation from coming to pass.

3. Does Teacher not think that he bears political responsibility for the disgrace brought on ELEVEN-year-olds whose parents made the correct decision to send them to school only to find themselves the unsuspecting victims of a criminal enterprise?

4. The authorities running those failed schools should be ashamed of themselves. They should go to TB Joshua’s church and do a power point presentation of all those failed grades and pray for salvation. They should not be surprised by ACC officers turning up at their doors upon their return.

5. This incident now offers Teacher a big opportunity to move decisively against all failed and failing schools. He could close them down and send their pupils to other schools. We will not accept any such results in 2020. Have we made ourselves very clear sir?

WHY HAS THE GREAT YOUYI BUILDING BECOME A CAR SALES POINT?

We hold Agbangba Jazz personally responsible for the mess we now have inside the compound of one of the most important buildings in this country. Youyi Building holds many government ministries and agencies but what is happening there now leaves us with the impression that those who should act, absolutely don’t care about the way people are treating a very serious government facility.

Apart from people parking rotten vehicles in some corners of the compound, we have seen evidence that people have turned the area bordering on China House into a car sales point. They appear to be moving from other parts of the city with their cars to trade inside Youyi Building compound. The Ministry of Works and Technical Maintenance is responsible for this facility and they should never tell us they have no idea what’s happening out there. We don’t run the place but by keen observation, we found it out.

We have also seen the intensification of local cookery selling around the place. We know the staff would want to have lunch but why not organize the people in such a way that they all fit in the designated canteen space at the ground floor of the building? Surely that would address the hygiene concerns we now have and make the whole business a little respectable.

One more task for Agbangba Jazz, after cleaning up Youyi Building: he should clear all those vagrants who gate-crash programs at Miatta Conference Center for food and drinks. It’s an age-old problem that the New Direction MUST deal with NOW. We will return to this after soon.

We will not allow Agbangba Jazz to pretend our concern is Alice in Wonderland stuff.
