Sierra Leonean star Alhassan Koroma, 19 has been ruled out of the first two Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers that Leone Stars will be engaged in during the second week of November. The Spanish based midfielder got injured this week whiles on duty with his club Real Balompedica Linense, also known as Balona.

In a Facebook post by Balona on Wednesday, it said: “After the tests made to the player Alhassan Koroma, he has been diagnosed with a breakage of the upper third of the semi-semimembranosus with a breakage of the union and a partial breakage of the tendon.”

“Recovery time will be between 8 to 12 weeks depending on its evolution,” the post continued.

Sierra Leone is set to play its opening match against Lesotho in Freetown. The team will then travel to Benin three days later to play its second game.

Sierra Leone is in Group L for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers with Nigeria, Lesotho and Benin.

It is not clear whether Leones Stars Head Coach, Sellas Tetteh was considering Koroma as part of his plans, but that option has now been ruled out till the next set of qualifying games in 2020.

Koroma was very instrumental in helping East End Lions win the Sierra Leone Premiere League last season. The midfielder mostly plays on the wings for Balona and Lions.

He is regarded as one of the brightest talents from the country in Europe.

Koroma moved to the Spanish third tier side Linense in August this year, following a successful campaign with Lions.
