Amidu Karim upbeat about three points in Bo

Ahead of its clash with Bo Rangers on Sunday, the coach of FC Kallon, Amidu Karim, has said he is optimistic about his team’s chances of winning all three points in Bo.

Karim was speaking at the post match press conference following his team’s stalemate with FC Johansen on Wednesday evening.

“I am very optimistic that we are going to take the three points that we are going for and come back to town,” he said.

FC Kallon are 5th in the table with nine points after five games. A win in Bo will solidify Kallon’s title challenge and further dent the hopes Bo Rangers.

Rangers are going through a disappointment of their own. They lost their first game of the season last Wednesday when East End Tigers defeated them 2-1 in Freetown.

They still have 10 points and are in the top three in the league. But their season is about to get a lot more difficult. After playing FC Kallon on Sunday, they will travel to Freetown and face last season’s defending champions East End Lions.

Despite his optimism, Karim understands the challenge he will face in Bo. Last season his team barely came through after a 1-0 win in their season opener in Bo.

Rangers are unbeaten in their home this season. Karim said he would have to alter his formation, giving a hint that FC Kallon might seat deep a bit and go out on the counter when the time arises.

He said: “We are determined to go to Bo and we are going to get what we want but it is not going to be an easy match.

“Every match has a different approach… it can be the same squad, but my formation is going to change. Going to Bo Rangers I think we will have to change our formation and system, we are going into a very tough match. We know the type of hostility that is out there.”

On Wednesday, FC Kallon dominated and created chances. Karim said despite the result against FC Johansen, he believes the team could convert those chances on another day.

“We created many chances that we failed to convert. In my own experience as a coach, as long as we keep creating chances one day the goals will come.”

Ahead of this game, FC Kallon medics are sweating on the fitness of Emmanuel Samadiyya and Masalakie Bangura, two of their key stars.
